The Chef
I’m Whitney Toogood — the owner, operator, and sorceress behind the magic of Toogood’s Kitchen. With over a decade of professional culinary experience, my journey has taken me through some of Ottawa’s most beloved kitchens, including Wellington Gastropub, Saslove’s Meat Market, The Sheraton Ottawa, Aroma Meze, and most recently, five wonderful years as Head Chef at Saunders’ Farm.

Food has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I discovered it early in life cooking alongside family and friends, and that spark only grew brighter during a life-changing trek across Europe with my husband, Sean — the inspiration behind the name Toogood’s Kitchen. My formal training came at Algonquin College’s Culinary Management program, where I graduated with honours, collected a few awards, and within a year stepped into my first head chef role.

Alongside raising my family, I’ve poured my heart into building Toogood’s Kitchen with one purpose in mind: helping people feel their best through food. For me, this business is about more than cooking — it’s about using fresh, whole ingredients to create meals that truly nourish body and soul. Every dish is made from scratch with the best seasonal produce and responsibly sourced proteins, supporting local farmers and producers whenever possible.

My mission is to make wholesome eating both accessible and enjoyable, whether that means easing the daily stress of mealtime, supporting health and wellness goals, or simply bringing more joy to the table. Toogood’s Kitchen has been warmly embraced by this fantastic community, and I’m so grateful. I believe that whole foods have the power to transform the way we feel, live, and connect — one meal at a time.
