The Chef

Whitney Toogood is the owner, operator and sorceress behind the magic of Toogood’s Kitchen, with over a decade of professional culinary experience. Most recently, for 5 years, as head chef at the amazing Saunders’ Farm. With stops along the way at Wellington Gastropub, Saslove’s Meat Market, The Sheraton Ottawa and Aroma Meze, just to name a few. She is well travelled and known in the Ottawa culinary community. She’s spent the last seven years focused on growing and nurturing her family while planting the seeds of Toogood’s Kitchen. She found an intense passion for food early on learning and cooking with family and friends. This passion only blossomed during a pivotal and life changing trek across Europe with her incredible husband Sean Toogood for which her business is aptly named. It was, however, during her professional training in the Culinary Management program at Algonquin College where she found her calling and honed her craft. Graduating with honours and a few awards under her belt, she found herself as head chef within a year of graduation at a local restaurant, Bin 790, now called Aperitivo . Whitney has  come full circle now, finding herself back home at Algonquin College as a part time instructor educating the next generation of passionate chefs while also operating her own catering company. She is thrilled to say Toogood’s Kitchen has been warmly and enthusiastically received by this fantastic and supportive community. Her passion today culminates in a desire to make the  most delicious scratch made food, using the best, freshest local ingredients, and sourcing them from our local farmers and producers alike to offer her “Food Lovers” a most delicious and heartwarming meal they won’t soon forget.
